Click here to explore our interactive guide to the new Congress. The presentation includes biographical background on the 94 new members who will begin serving in the 113th Congress in January and also highlights the 24 incumbents — 23 representatives and one senator — who lost their bids for re-election and will be leaving Congress at the end of the year.

Democrats increased their margin in the Senate by two and will hold a 55-to-45 majority, including the two independents who will caucus with the Democratic party. In the House, Republicans held their majority; with four races still not called, House Democrats have picked up a net of eight seats for a total of 198 members to the Republicans' 233.
