The Long CR: Fiscal 2017 Appropriations

Lawmakers returned to the lame-duck session with just a few weeks to resolve fiscal 2017 spending and quickly settled on a CR that extends to April 28. Funding in the previous continuing resolution ran out Dec. 9 -- for most of the government. The first CR included full-year appropriations for military construction and veterans programs, leaving Congress with 11 more annual funding measures to go.

Congress has already resolved funding to combat the Zika virus and to help flood victims in Louisiana and other states. Both of those items were included in the CR.
